The Farmland Access Project has written two grant proposals to the USDA funding program to encourage and train young farmers. Our proposal would involve hands on experience for young people interested in becoming farmers at our various land based communities as well as several other farming homesteads we are associated with. It would give informational guidance on how to access and fund the land they need and give tours of successful farming communities not in our land trust. We have included permaculture educational workshops as part of our program. We have submitted our second proposal and are waiting to hear if we will get this major funding for the project.
